How to Adopt from Our Bakersfield, California Shelter
Thank you for choosing to adopt your new family member from MEOW co.! You are saving a life when you adopt a cat or kitten. There are kittens for adoption, too, or you can adopt a a special needs feline. We’d be delighted to help you make the right match and adopt a feline.
How to adopt a cat
The first step is to complete our cat adoption survey.
Which one do I choose?
You can find a terrific selection of cats waiting to meet someone just like you right here. If you find one you love, please put his or her name on your survey.
Or, if you still aren’t sure which cat is right for you, our adoption specialists love playing matchmaker! They’d be delighted to hear from you at firstname.lastname@example.org.
What happens after I apply?
After we look over your survey, we will consult with you about the cat you’d like to adopt and tell you more about him or her. MEOW co. may arrange for a home visit to help you be prepared to meet the cat’s needs.
The fun part: How do I get my new kitty?
We encourage you to come to the Shelter to meet the cats, especially if your new cat has special needs, but it is quite often not necessary.
MEOW co. can assist in arranging transportation for a cat to his or her new home. The average cost of flying a cat home is $285 to $300. There is a crate fee of $40 and a $65 adoption fee. All of our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. We also test for FIV and feline leukemia.
You can also schedule a vehicle transport with our partners at Fetch, Inc. They’ll safely deliver your kitty right to your door. Fetch, Inc. charges per mile per minute for transport – they do take 50% off your ride fees to assist with adoption promotions. They’re like Lyft, but for your pets.
Every cat adopted from MEOW co. comes with our lifetime promise. If, for any reason, you can no longer care for your cat, he or she is always welcome to come back to the Shelter.
