Every day in this country, more than 4,500 cats & kittens – about 3 per minute – are killed in government run animal shelters, simply because they don’t have safe places to call home. Each one of these kitties is an individual and deserves the chance to find a loving family.
Your contribution to the MEOW co. No-Kill Cat Shelter goes straight to work helping thousands of abandoned cats & kittens—both at our Shelter and through outreach and rescue programs all throughout the state.
Because of supporters like you, we’ve been able to rescue 1020 abandoned cats & kittens from euthanasia and successfully find Foreverhomes for 936 of them since January 2017.[/three-fifths-first][two-fifths]
Meet Little Burrito – an abandoned kitty whose life was saved by caring cat lovers like you.
Little Burrito was abandoned at a local veterinary hospital because she was partially blind and suffered neurological complications that were potentially the result of human inflicted poisoning.
The hospital staff reached out to the MEOW co. No-Kill Cat Shelter and support for this special needs kitten was on the way – she was taken to and placed within one of the very few Neonatal Kitten Nurseries in Central & Southern California.
To this day, Little Burrito has undergone emergency surgeries, physical rehabilitation, and countless hours of love & care from highly trained medical MEOW co. Volunteer Staff.
Kittens like Little Burrito are euthanized everyday because they are special needs, disabled, of old age, newborn, or simply because there’s not enough space in government shelters.
